Growing up in the 2nd smallest state meant lots of road trips to see all that Delaware has to offer. Now that I live in New Jersey I want my kids to experience all the fun things in Delaware also. With only 3 counties it’s easy to drive the entire state in a day and I’ve pulled together a list of 10 things to do in Delaware.
New Castle -Delaware
Auburn Heights
This steam engine museum helps you take a step back in time and see how trains and automobiles were run. We love to take a ride on the small train and enjoy the old fashion popcorn popper run by steam!
Wilmington Blue Rocks Baseball Game
We love a minor league baseball game and the Wilmington Blue Rocks always bring the fun. It’s a family fun activity that will have everyone cheering.
Walmart Pit Stop
With any big trip I like to make a pit stop at a Walmart Automotive Care Center to get my oil changed. Since we take lots of road trips and have an older car with over 75,000 miles I need the Pennzoil® High Mileage Vehicle® oil. I like knowing that it’s getting the sludge out and helping my car last even longer.
What’s better is it’s on Rollback so I can get my oil changed for $35.88 ($4 savings). I also love that I can just drop the car off to Walmart’s ACC and do some shopping in the store to grab snacks, books, wipes or whatever else we need or forgot, I mean Delaware is the home of tax-free shopping, so why not stock up!
Kent County – Delaware
Visit Downtown Dover
There’s a lot to see; the Capitol, Delaware Archive Center, or the Green are just a few of my favorites.
Johnson Victrola Museum
Yep the Victrola Museum is in Dover and while your kids will have no idea what a Victrola is, it’s a fun stop with great history. Bonus it’s Free Admission.
Spence’s Bazaar
Make a pit stop at Spence’s Bazaar to grab some food, deals, and enjoy this Delaware tradition. It’s only open on Tuesday, Fridays and Saturdays so plan accordingly.
Monster Miles
Dover Downs hosts the Dover International Speedway and there’s a giant red eyed monster name Miles just waiting to get a photo with you.
Air Mobility Command Museum
Dover Air Base is right there and civilians are welcome to visit the Air Mobility Command Museum to see where old planes and military history are kept. It’s also FREE!
Sussex County – Delaware
Funland – Rehoboth Beach
The slogan is “Today’s memories at yesterdays prices” and this is so true. Everyone can find fun at Funland on the Rehoboth Boardwalk.
Bethany Beach
A trip to Delaware wouldn’t be complete without a day on the beach and Bethany is my favorite. Beautiful sandy beaches, and a boardwalk with fries, ice cream and pizza make it the perfect beach day.
Now start planning your trip to the Small Wonder State and don’t forget to drop your car off at the Walmart Auto Care Center for the Pennzoil High Mileage Rollback deal!

I have never been – but I’m pretty sure you had my family at ‘minor league baseball’ – we always find a way to catch a game wherever we are.
