It’s Fat Tuesday, and while everyone is in New Orleans is celebrating we’re lucky to have friends that have helped us create our own tradition. Last year MommieDe sent us a little Family Style Mardi Gras kit and we’ve turned it into a yearly tradition.

Family Style Mardi GrasWhat makes this so much fun is how easy it is. We got some beads, masks and party horns for style and tiny babies to hide in our king cake (AKA donuts). Part of the tradition is whoever finds the baby will keep the festivities going for the coming year.

This year I kept our celebration simple and bought some Dunkin Donuts and hid the baby in one of them. Watching the kids pick which one they wanted was so fun and one of them found the baby. The best part is the other isn’t too upset because, well they’re eating a donut.

Family Style MardiGrasIt’s small and simple, but a tradition I’m excited to have and one that the whole family can enjoy.

Do you celebrate Mardi Gras and Fat Tuesday? What are your traditions?
