When April rolls around I know there’s one thing I always make sure I have on my calendar and that’s Reeves-Reed Arboretum’s Daffodil Day. I’ve written about our fun the past 2 years and this year was no different.

Reeves Reed Arboretum Daffodil Day 2016A beautiful day with sunshine, family fun and entertainment is what makes this event a favorite. The bowl of daffodils wasn’t as bright as it usually is, which just reminds me that mother nature is the one in charge, but the fun and learning from the event was still top notch.

Meet the Tree at Reeves Reed Arboretum

Every year they seem to have a ton of different activities and learning stations. A favorite for us was Meet the Tree where we walked around and learned about the trees marked with ribbons. What’s even cooler is after we left Eleanor was telling us what kinds of trees were in our neighborhood. With Arbor Day coming I love that she’ll have a knowledge of trees and how important they are to us.

Reeves Reed Arboretum plant a treeOf course there was face painting, corn-hole, story-time and even fun dancing. A local girl scout troop did an awesome job on these Lorax flower pots and taught the kids how to plant their own trees and made a promise to make a difference. They wrote their own name and got an “Unless” rock. A great reminder that kids do really want to do what’s right and help.

Reeves Reed Arboretum Daffodil Day activitiesLet’s not forget about the baby goats you could meet and pet, and who will help the Arboretum in the fall to get ready for next year’s daffodil day. We also got to pull out the binoculars and learn about clouds, snake skins and a robin’s nest.

Reeves Reed & Shinbone Alley Stilt BandThe extra fun was the band that walked around playing music. The Shinbone Alley Stilt Band brought smiles, and joy to everyone. As we sat on the grass listening, dancing and enjoying an afternoon as a family I was reminded how lucky I am to be where I am and enjoy a beautiful day so close to home.

Daffodil Day 2016

Reeves-Reed Arboretum has tons of fun activities planned throughout the year and we always try to attend. With the weather warming up, you’ll see our family there on Discovery Saturday’s or just walking the grounds for a picnic or to grab a family photo.
