The dining room table is where we come together as a family at the holidays. Not only do we sit and have meals there, but we prepare our Christmas cards, make our “wish list” for Santa, and most importantly sit with friends and chat. It’s a place we find comfort. So when I learned that Shutterfly makes table runners it was no-brainer that I would have one on our table.

They have so many great year-round options, but with the holidays coming I decided to make a runner that would bring back memories from our childhoods, a nod to Christmas Past!
Memory Photo Table Runner
My husband and I don’t have a lot of our childhood photos scanned in so this helped us take some time to scan in those photos and give us a trip down memory lane. We spent an evening laughing and talking about our childhood holidays allowing us to get to know each other better and time to connect as a couple.
We picked the Merry and Bright runner because I knew it would match our aesthetic and look great in the dining room. We’ve started the tradition of using a song lyric in our holiday card so when I saw the center said “May your Days be Merry and Bright” I knew it was perfect. What I wasn’t expecting was how much I was going to love it when it arrived.

I can’t get over how soft it feels. I like that the fabric and pictures are all woven together and it’s a good weight so it lies beautifully on the table. What’s even better is its machine washable, so I don’t have to worry about anyone spilling something and ruining it. Just make sure you air dry it!
I also discovered that it works for more than just my table. It’s beautiful on our fireplace mantle. I bet it would also look great on an entryway table or buffet.
Even though this runner is new to us it feels like it’s been around forever. With memories of our childhood and ones we are creating as a family it only seems fitting that this would be on the center of our table.
There’s always talk about traditions and keepsakes at the holidays and this runner has become just that to us. I know as the years go by we’ll put it on our table, buffet or fireplace and think back to the memories we’ve captured.
