Seeing a Broadway show is always magical, but seeing Tuck Everlasting The Musical on the great white way with The Moms was awesome.

I love when I see show that I’m not too familiar with. I’ve heard of the book Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt, and that it was about a family that drinks from a magical spring and stays that age forever, but that was all I knew.
The story was beautiful. An 11 year old girl who wants adventure, life outside her house, and to explore her woods. The Tuck family which drinks water from a spring near an ash tree hasn’t aged for 102 years. Add in the man in the yellow suit, a toad and a sheriff and deputy who pull it all together and you’ve got a musical. Plus the question of “If you could live forever would you?” will be on your mind all night.
I’m personally a huge fan of the director Casey Nicholaw and love the way he incorporates dance into the story, and wow the ensemble could really dance. I saw beautiful lines and technique and even a So You Think you can dance star.
I think the moment that really spoke to me the most was a line in one of songs between Winnie (11 year old girl) & Jesse Tuck (17 year’s old + 102) where Jesse sang “If you aren’t afraid, you aren’t alive” I loved this moment because it’s a great lesson that sometimes you have to live with fear. It’s not necessarily a bad thing and that’s a great lesson for my kids.
Speaking of kids, this show is perfect. I recommend ages 8 and up, but I love how Winnie learns through her journey with Jesse and even more I love the choices she makes. The ballet at the end will speak to all ages and leave you both reminiscing and thinking of what’s to come.

As an extra bonus we got a Q & A after the show with about 8 of the cast members. Listening to all the questions from the kids we learned that the process of developing and creating the show has been over 7 years and that none of the cast would choose to live forever. A majority of them did read the book, and I know I’ve got it on my list to read. It’s also amazing to hear about these actors juggling life as parents, or other business owners. One runs a dance studio in Brooklyn.
If you’re planning a trip to NYC I highly recommend this show. It’s also a great way to introduce your kids to Broadway with a timeless story.
Disclosure: I was provided complimentary tickets to attend the show. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
