Summer is here and for my family it means lots of fun, adventure and sweet treats right in our own backyard. That’s why I decided to share one of our favorite activities a DIY Backyard Obstacle Course and finishing up with some Blue Bunny® Ice Cream with Smucker’s toppings. Talk about a sweet reward.

For the obstacle course I like to keep it simple. We’re a family on a budget so I picked up everything from Wal-mart, both supplies and rewards. It was also pretty easy to spot the Blue Bunny and Smucker’s Toppings since they were both at the end of the aisles. Truly reminding me some things are just better together!

Supplies needed:
9 Pool Noodles
2 hula hoops
2 bubble wands
package of dowel rods
tape
Blue Bunny® Ice Cream (we love the Homemade Vanilla and Mint Chocolate Chip)
Smucker’s toppings

I taped the pool noodles together to make a circle and then put 3 together in a set. I also took 2 noodles and cut them into 8 different pieces and used dowel rods to stick them in the ground so they would stand up. I used sidewalk chalk to draw the starting line and added some other fun circles and lines. The obstacle course was laid out so we could do it as a family. Here’s our route:

Take the bubble wand and twirl in a circle

Walk the line

Jump in the rings

Twirl the hula hoop around your neck 2 times

Weave through the noodles

End through or jump the hurdle

Reward yourself with a sweet treat!

A simple and easy course to keep the whole family active and having fun. Plus nothing goes better together then finishing it off at home with some Blue Bunny® Ice Cream and Smucker’s toppings. I love that we can easily personalize our favorite treat just by adding Smucker’s topping. I am personally a Sundae Syrup Caramel lover, while the rest of the family is all about the Magic Shell, specifically the Chocolate Fudge flavor. The kids loved watching it harden in seconds, and it really added something fun to our reward.
