When moving from an apartment to a house there are a lot of things to think about. There’s the obvious decorating and painting, but something that will make everything better is being well organized. So I’m sharing some moving tips and tricks.

Moving Tips and Tricks
So here are a few of my tips and tricks for packing and moving
-
- Start Collecting boxes 2 months prior to moving
-
- Color Code each room ex: Living Room (Yellow) Kitchen (Red) Kids Room (Blue). If you are able to match the wall color to the label it makes getting the boxes to the right room much easier. Unless they see an Orange label which means 3rd floor and they don’t want to walk the steps 🙂
-
- Label Everything! On each color tag (construction paper) should state what is in the box or where it came from. It will make unpacking so much easier.
-
- Nothing should be labeled miscellaneous. Everything has a home or came from some drawer. Knowing what’s in the box will save so much time and energy when you decide to unpack.
-
- If you’re moving purchase some moving straps (affiliate). My brother was adamant about these, and I think they made the move go so smooth. It was worth the $, and now we can use them to move furniture around easier.
-
- On moving day keep a big reusable bag out and put any of the last min finds or items in that. This way when you get to the house you know it’s in a bag and you don’t need to sort through boxes.
-
- Be prepared for something to break or rip. If you know that this can or will happen then it makes life a little easier
-
- Be prepared to thank your movers. It doesn’t matter if it’s family or friends or a pro team. Saying thanks and offering to get them water will make a big difference. Lunch and beer also doesn’t hurt
-
- Most importantly don’t be afraid to get rid of things that don’t fit in the new space. Whether it’s ascetically or just doesn’t fit you have to be willing to let it go.
