In the summer I decided that I (with the help of my Dad) wanted to make Eleanor a play kitchen for her Christmas gift.

I started looking as pinterest for inspiration, which was easy to find and then scouring the yard sales to find the perfect nightstand to convert.

I got lucky and found this one for $5

Then is was time to figure out what to do with it.  The one thing I really knew was that I wanted it to have an oven door.

I’m lucky that my Dad has lots of wood scraps and the tools so we could transform this.  We did go out to Lowe’s and buy the knobs (we spray painted them) and the faucet (a J pipe spray painted silver) and the removable plastic bowl and oven light (Dollar Store)  The burners are plant bottoms from Walmart that cost .88 cents and we sprayed them and drew the spiral.

The biggest expense was the paint, and I knew I wanted it to be a 50’s blue so I forked out for the paint.

Overall it totaled out to be under $40 and the memories I have making it with my dad are priceless.

I want to add a few more things to personalize it, but like that she can draw or add pictures to the little board.  I may have to do a vinyl clock on the backboard.

But now I’m looking forward to making more memories and “cookies”  with Eleanor and Camden!
