It’s spring and that means the New York International Auto Show has arrived to the Javits Center in NYC. It also means it’s time for me to walk around and learn about all the new cars coming to the roads in 2017 and beyond. Plus I’ve got an inside scoop from She Buys Cars about a chance to win Kate Spade handbags by participating in the Handbag Challenge.
First lets start with the cars. I love to see all that the automobile industry is doing to make the earth a better place so when I saw that Hyundia has 3 different Blue-Drive vehicles. I really wanted to know more. The Blue-Drive is their eco friendly car, the Ioniq. There’s the Ioniq Hybrid, which is gas and some battery and will get about 58 mpg. The Ioniq Electric, which is a plug in at home and never need gas and can go 124 miles before it needs recharging. Finally the new Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid, which is electric when you want and gas when you need it, will be coming in the fall. These also have some amazing features like automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection. I love this because walking my kids to school pedestrians aren’t always given the right of way so this feature really spoke to me.
For me the Hyundia brand is something I trust. The first car I purchased myself was an Elantra and I always felt like it was a perfect car for my lifestyle and the brand was reliable, safe and stylish. Oh how proud I felt when I went to the dealer on a cold January day to look at cars and find the perfect match. That’s another reason why I enjoy the Car Show. It allows me to really check out and see what I think of the feel of a car in the comfort of a warm building and not feel the pressure to buy it that day. I had wonderful conversations with a rep from Hyundia about their remodel of the Elantra to be a little more sporty with the hatchback trunk and how it’s great for active families or first time car owners. I do miss the normal trunk look, but that could be because I had an awesome spoiler on mine so I’m a little sentimental!

As you walk about the show you’ll notice at Hyundia, Genesis, Mazda, and Toyota signs for the Handbag Challenge. Make sure you pop into your favorite car at these stops and take a selfie because you could win an awesome bag. Just make sure you tell us why you love the car and include #HandbagChallenge before you put it on social media.
Overall the Auto Show is a great way to spend time either shopping for your next car, or checking out cars that are just plain cool. It’s great to go with the family, on a date, or with friends who enjoy seeing what will be on the road in the future.
Have you ever attended a car show?
