The holidays can be crazy, busy and stressful, especially when it comes to spending time with your partner, so I’m sharing a tradition we have that helps us knock some things off our list and get some quality time together while sharing a meal. It’s our annual Christmas wrapping picnic date.

Every year we like to take an afternoon in December where the kids head off to play dates and we have lunch and wrap Christmas presents in front of our tree.

Since our time is limited, and neither one of us wants to cook or make food we like to head to our local Stop & Shop to grab a deli meal combo. They have lots of different combos, but for us we picked a full sub that we can split, a bag of Deep River chips and a Coca-Cola™ for only $9. It’s the perfect meal and price to make our lunch date tasty and affordable.

For our picnic we like to set up in front of the tree, and throw on some holiday music. We’ll also take a few minutes to enjoy eating lunch while we talk about what we have left to do for the holidays.
I like to start on wrapping the gifts, and pull all the supplies I need together in one place, tape, scissors, bows, ribbon and paper. Keeping it all handy on the tray makes it easy to find the item I need or am asking for. We try hard to wrap early on, and use color coordinated bows to know who gets what gift.

Of course we also like to think of this as a romantic date so sharing a Coca-Cola together is a part that makes me smile. I’ve found over the years that time together is one of the best gifts I could ask for, and letting out our silly side and just having some fun is exactly what we need, while sharing a Coca-Cola.

Planning our annual picnic wrapping date was so much easier this year with our deli meal combo and I know I’ll be grabbing a few more of these meals during this busy time.

What kind of sub, salad or wrap, will you get to go with your Coca-Cola while wrapping gifts?

This is such a great idea! I love how you took something that an seem like just another to do item and turned it into a fun date!
