Vroom, Vroom. The cars go around the track, the bleachers are usually packed and I’m lathered in sunblock, it must mean it’s time for Dover International Speedway: Monster Mile. I’m excited to announce that I’ll be attending the FedEx400 on Sunday, May 31st with my family as a Dover International Speedway Ambassador.
Growing up in Delaware there was one thing you always knew and that was the end of May was Race Weekend. I actually didn’t attend my 1st race till I was 27. I didn’t really see the point of cars going in circles, but when I went I was surprised with how exciting and fun this sport really is. The FedEx 400 isn’t just about cars going around the track either it benefits Autism Speaks an amazing organization that I believe makes the world a better place.
It’s not just about what goes on in the stands though, it’s also what’s happening outside. The food, vendors, ESPN sports stage, and all the stuff they have for families to do. NASCAR has really turned racing into a family event. Prior to the drop of the green flag there are concerts, Cassadee Pope and Thompson Square will be there, the Monster FunZone, FanZone, and tons of different concession and merchandise locations. (I used to work at the Grotto Pizza every race weekend in my 20’s so I’ll be hitting that one up for sure.)
What I’m most excited about is the kids club Monster Mile Youth Nation. An exclusive club for race fans age 14 and under. It gives young fans the ability to explore the sport of NASCAR. With a $20 annual membership fee you get some great things:
- Free FanVision rental on one race weekend
- Free welcome gift that in 2015 includes items like a water bottle, merchandise coupon and die cast car
- Special VIP area in the Monster FunZone for members to interact and play games
- Exclusive access to race weekend activities
