I have always been a fan of the musical Annie. I’ve choreographed it, and often been told I would make a great Annie (minus the curls). It’s what happens when you’re a redhead! So when I got an invite to view the new Annie Movie with The Moms and Norwegian Cruise Lines I knew I had to take Eleanor.
Something you should know about me is I am a major musical theater nerd. I know a lot about stage shows and hate when movies make huge changes; so I was a little worried about going in to this new modern version.
I have to say I LOVED IT, but I’m not the only one, Eleanor did too. They have found a way to merge this classic into something kids can relate to today and make parents smile as they relive their childhood a little.
They also gave the songs we love a fresh feel and I could still sing along. I appreciated the little details they put into it that are from the stage show (re: FDR New Deal Report). The foster kids were great but the real star is Annie with her positivity and likability.
This was the perfect date with my daughter and her 1st time seeing Annie. She loved it, and was dancing and singing along (as best she could). I loved not having to worry about inappropriate language or content. It really is a movie families can enjoy together.
This holiday we’re focusing on spending time together and I highly recommend you take an afternoon and see the new Annie movie. You’ll leave singing, happy and ready for tomorrow!
I was not compensated for this post, but did attend a screening with The Moms. All opinions are my own.
