The Cricut Joy is out and this small but mighty machine is the perfect addition to the Cricut Family and I’ve got 3 ways the Cricut Joy makes birthdays easy.
Birthdays have a tendency to sneak up on you. It doesn’t matter if it’s for a friend, family member or even your own. Between cards, decorations and gifts I’m usually pulling together a quick DIY, and now that I have the Cricut Joy I’ve got lots of ways to work quickly to make any birthday special.
What is the Cricut Joy?
The Cricut Joy brings convenience and personalization to anyone, but it’s really great because of its size. I love that you can easily keep this machine in your kitchen, office, living room or dining room, and it doesn’t take up a lot of space, or you can easily store or take it with you in the adorable carrying case. For me the Cricut Joy will live in my dining room in the buffet. I can easily store it or leave it out on top of the buffet so I’m ready to craft or make a card quickly.
Cricut Joy for Birthdays
When it comes to birthdays we find there’s always one we’re celebrating or being invited to. As much as I would love to say I’m prepared, I’m not. So being able to quickly make a birthday special is key, and important.
Making cards with a Cricut Joy
I feel like I’m always forgetting to get a card, and when I saw how simple it was to make cards with the Cricut Joy I had to try it out.
To make a card you will need the following supplies: Cricut Joy Card Mat Cricut Cards (they have so many amazing combinations) Cricut Joy Pens (you may need this or may not depending on the card design)
Pick the card in Cricut Design Space
Use the Cricut Card Mat and insert your card. There’s a sleeve to insert the card. Tip: I use the scraper to make sure the card is secure.
Make sure you have the Cricut Joy machine selected and then insert the mat and click go. Once the card is done add the insert and write your message.
The whole thing took about 5 mins to make and there are so many different cards and inserts that it’s easy to personalize for the recipient.
Cutting vinyl with the Cricut Joy
We love to give celebratory balloons. It’s an easy way to make a birthday or special event feel big. Adding vinyl with a saying, name or whatever you want is a quick to do. With the Cricut Joy Smart Vinyl I love that I don’t need to use a mat to cut and that you can do 1 continuous cut. The vinyl can range from 1 ft to 4 ft, 10 ft or even up to 20 ft long.
Pick your design or text in Cricut Design Load your Cricut Joy Smart Vinyl (I’m using the Smart Vinyl Shimmer Permanent) Click Go
Once you’ve cut the vinyl weed it with your tools. Then you can use Cricut Transfer Tape to apply the design or text to a balloon.
The possibilities with this are endless, and whether you’re adding a name or just making a specific color theme work these balloons will make people smile.
Infusible Ink with Cricut Joy
When we celebrate birthdays a shirt to commemorate the year is needed. My daughter was turning 10 and since I was already making her card and personalized balloons I wanted to make her shirt with the Joy as well. It’s great because I have the ability to cut with Smart Iron on vinyl or Infusible Ink. You do need a mat for this, and I feel the 4.5 x 12 mat is worth it to have and of course using the Cricut EasyPress 2 helps to complete the look.
Place the Infusible Ink face up on the mat Don’t forget to select Mirror Image when you go to cut Load your mat and go
Place a piece of card stock between the shirt, and then use a lint roller to clean the shirt off. Place the Infusible Ink on and layer the parchment paper on top and press.
Once done give it a few moments till you peel back the Infusible Ink and then enjoy the colorful creation.
Cricut Joy makes birthdays easy
These are just 3 little ways that the Cricut Joy can make birthdays easy. A celebration of any kind is special but a birthday is something that will be remembered every year and making cards, balloons and shirts with the Cricut Joy is something anyone can do.
