I’m always on the hunt for a easy, affordable and useful DIY gift that will work for anyone. A few years back I started to make our own Vanilla extract and this year I’ll be gifting some to friends, family, teachers, neighbors, co-workers, hostesses and anyone else who either shows up with something in hand or just needs a little pick me up.

Home Made Vanilla

Supplies:

• Vanilla Beans
• Vodka (go with the cheap stuff)
• Glass Jars
• Funnel
• Tags (check the dollar bin at Target)

Step 1: Cut  about 2-3 vanilla beans into pieces about an inch long (this is for an 8 ounce bottle) 1-2 beans for a 5 ounce bottle.

Step 2: Put the pieces in the glass bottle

Step 3: Funnel in the Vodka

Step 4: Let sit for approximately 30 days in a dark, cool space shaking every few days (or when you remember)

Step 5: Add a tag and deliver!

Seriously that’s it, very little work and it’s something people really will enjoy and appreciate.
