For the 1st time ever we (meaning Mike and I) got a real Christmas tree.  We’ve not been home for Christmas’ in the past so we never got a real tree.  We would use this pop-up tree, we could store under the bed, that my parents bought us the Christmas before we got married and it worked perfect for our little Brooklyn apartment.

This year all Eleanor wanted for Christmas was a tree.  When we went to visit Santa after Thanksgiving and he asked her what she would like she got the biggest smile and said “A Christmas Tree.”

So we devised a plan…

We knew we would be going to Macy’s Santaland in the city and I managed to sneak in before the kids and tell Santa that he can tell her, since she’s been good we could pick the tree up after our visit that day.

When Eleanor and Camden ran in to talk with Santa you could see the excitement in everyone’s eyes.

We got some photos and then Santa had Eleanor stand in front of him and ask her if she had been good and said “What would you like for Christmas?”  she told him she wanted a tree, then Santa replied with “Santa loves all the girls and boys of the world and since you’ve been so good you can have your present today!”

Eleanor was beyond excited and I’m was standing there fighting back tears because to see a child’s wish come true is magical.

So we left with excitement and happy hearts and headed to Sugar and Plumm for a delicious lunch and then to the corner of 67th and Columbus and Eleanor picked out the perfect tree from Santa!

We took the tree home, opened it and let it rest for 24 hours before decorating it and now we have the perfect 1st tree in our new home.

Merry Christmas!
