There’s something special about a girl getting her 1st doll. I’m not talking about a baby, but a doll. A friend she will create stories, parties and take along on adventures. There’s a lot of dolls out there, and I wanted E to find one that fit her style and my budget and that’s where Journey Girls from Toys R Us came in.
To start with the Journey Girls line is all about adventures around the world. They have lots of different girls, but E felt a connection with Mikaella and she was set. These 18 inch dolls are built amazing. They have a soft body, but the top part is plastic as are the arms and legs, which are easy to maneuver and their hair is so soft. I find myself just playing with Mikaella’s hair around the house. It’s even easier to brush than E’s hair, which I like.
To my surprise E took to Mikaella and has been styling her with different outfits and since the newest line is focused on Italy we’ve been talking a lot about the foods Italian eats, spaghetti and meatballs being a favorite.
I’ve also had the chance to do a review of the Scooter that’s available in the line. E just LOVES this scooter. I think it’s the hot pink helmet, but she likes to image Mikaella scooting around towns and streets and honking her horn as she goes. The scooter makes the sounds you would expect to hear as you ride around with vrooms, honks, beeps and even has a left and right blinker sound matching light.
The wheels are really nice and the bike is quite sturdy. I do wish it had a seat-belt, because safety first, but like that it has a helmet. It stands easily on it’s own, but does take a little time to figure out how to get the doll to stay, but once you figure it out it’s great.
The Journey Girls line has so many fun accessories that help to your child feel like they are on a journey with their friends. Maybe it’s a bike ride in Paris, or lounging on the beaches in Greece, a stylish haircut in Italy. They help the story continue and allow children to ask questions about these places and have fun pretending themselves.
There are tons of different outfits to pick from both in the store and online. I find the quality of the clothes is really nice. They also make it easy to put them on and take them off. Same with the shoes and hats.
Overall I’m so excited to have such a special 1st doll for E. It’s not only helping us to talk about other countries, but cultures and allowing us to play and make believe.
The Journey Girls line has great dolls and accessories that you won’t be disappointed with. Keep them in mind with the holidays fast approaching.
