Today I attempted to do a photo shoot with my kids for Valentines day. Last year I made Eleanor a cute dress, and let her wear lipstick and got some super cute shots
so I thought why not try it again this year. Boy was I wrong.
The 1st problem was the lighting. I’ve not done anything like this in the house so figuring out where to put my drop and not get major shadows was a challenge. Then is was getting the kids to not touch the backdrop. How hard is that for them to understand?
So after 2 timeouts and a major meltdown we were finally ready to attempt shooting and this is what we got.
That’s right he’s picking his nose and she’s got no interest in smiling. Also, do you notice the haircut she decided to give herself? The bangs, which I thought I “covered” were her attempt at a haircut.
So we try another tactic, and he’s totally into and she could care less that we’re bribing her with M&M’s.
In the end I didn’t get a great shot of them together but did get some of the individually.
He is just too cute in that sweater vest and bowtie
This one shows, her spunk, and lack of training in hair styling.
I think the most important thing for me to remember is that the photos don’t have to be perfect, it’s okay if it doesn’t work out like I wanted. Not everything has to be Pinterest material, and that what I need to do is enjoy the crazy sides that my kids show because in the end I’m sure I’ll get the perfect memory of my kids being kids!

I can't take the cuteness! I feel like I have the same trouble with Branden all the time…at least you had a memorable experience!
