This past weekend I was putting together a floor puzzle with Eleanor and I suddenly felt the urge to put together a grown up puzzle.  Something I haven’t done in years.

After the kids went to bed I came down stairs and looked through our games and puzzles and found my favorite.  It’s a 1,000 piece Charles Fazzino New York Puzzle.

When Mike and I were 1st married I remember he bought me this puzzle so I would have a project when he was on the road, but I only ever did it when he was in town.  I can remember working on it in our 1st apartment with our roommate Kevin and his girlfriend and how it took up the entire table, which means the entire kitchen (we were in Brooklyn) and how something so simple was so fun.

As I pulled out the pieces I smiled to myself remembering how I didn’t really know the city that well and how much I’ve grown since then.  Mike then came into the room and starting working with me to put this together and it was nice.  We were working on something fun, not the house, not the kids, just something for us to enjoy.  We joked, laughed, had playful banter, stayed up way too late, and just enjoyed each other.

Puzzle Date

It always amazes me how something as silly as a puzzle can really be such a great “date night” but I’m glad we took the time to do it and I suggest you try it as well, maybe a fun Valentine’s project if you’re staying in for the weekend.
