I recently pulled together a list of shows that give FREE Audience Member Tickets. I thought I would add on some tips for What to Expect as a Studio Audience Member.
If you’ve never attend a taping there are a few things I would like to share.
What to know about being a Studio Audience Member
1. Be prepared to wait
You’ll be waiting in lines outside, then sitting and waiting to enter the studio, then waiting for everyone to get seated. It’s a time consuming process. I would plan at least 4 hours for an hour show. (this is just an estimate it could be shorter, it could be longer)
2. Don’t expect to walk away with a car
Some shows do give something to the audience, but I’ve also walked away with nothing. By not expecting anything except an awesome time you’ll have even more fun and if you do get a book or gift card it’s just icing on the cake.
3. Look good
You’re going to be on National TV so wear something that makes you feel good. Stay away from crazy prints and keep with jewel tones and you’ll do fine. Don’t forget to wear comfy shoes, you’ll be standing in lines!
4. Turn your cell phone off
If they say no phones or pictures please comply. They hate asking as much as you hate hearing it so be respectful.
5. Bring a snack
You do a lot of waiting and you never know when you’re going to be done. Some places will provide you with a snack and drink but some don’t pack a granola bar or something small so you’re not starving.
6. Only bring what you need
Try not to bring more than you need to. You will go through security and dealing with a ton of bags is no fun. You also have to fit bags and coats under your seat, which usually doesn’t have a lot of space so think simple when choosing what to bring.
These tips are based on my experiences, and the shows I’ve attended. If you want to learn how to get tickets to be an Audience Member check out my list HERE.
