13 Hot Toys for 2017

A question I’m often asked is what will be the hot toys for this holiday season. Of course every child is different, but after attending The Toy Insider Holiday of Play and a few other events I’ve got a pretty good idea of what’s going to be hot this holiday season. I decided to narrow it down to my top 13 Hot Toys for 2017.

Please note some items were received as samples in order to cultivate this Gift Guide. All opinions are my own.

Encouraging play in kids is one of my favorite things, and as they age I’m learning they also like to be challenged so I’m sharing a little bit of everything in this, and I have more in my Stress Free Stocking Stuffer ideas!

Fingerlings
These are my #1 pick for the holiday. They do 40 different things, from blowing you a kiss to farting, and just enjoying your company. I like that it’s small enough to dangle from a finger, but bring in a sense of caring and creativity.

Kablocks
Oh how I wish this was out a few years ago. This allows you build a tower and then you jump on the air pump and blow it up. I mean talk about tons of fun for a toddler.

Marbleocity
Building and engineering your own marble maze goes a step further with this toy. I really like that they have a few different kinds and you can even connect them and they wood is sturdy and who doesn’t love to watch a marble roll through a maze?

Legends of the Hidden Temple Game
This game is based on the Nickelodeon show from the 90’s and throws some serious nostalgia for parents who grew up watching the show. It’s also a fun game to play with your kids work on challenges to find out who will be the winner!

Soundmoovz
If you have a musical kid who love to dance this is going to be at the top of their wishlist. You connect the bands via BluTooth and while you show off your awesome dancing skills you’re also making music. It’s very cool and will have kids up and active while they play.

Crayola Fashion Super Star Designer
If you have a rising fashionista or someone who’s very picky about what they wear then this is the item for them. You’re able to draw and create your own fashions and then snap a photo with a smart devise and watch your masterpiece work the runway. Since it’s Crayola the markers, and pencils are high quality and I love that they really want to encourage patterns and colors. My daughter has designed a different outfit every other day and loves to explain the idea behind it. This gives skills in confidence and art.

R2-D2 Droid Inventor Kit LittleBits
If you have a kid who loves Star Wars and STEM than this is the toy for them. They can build and code their own R2-D2 and bonus they can also decorate it however they want.

Operation: Escape
The Escape room craze has taken over America and I love that this game allows for the kids to have their own version. Working together to beat the clock there are 3 different challenges to complete, skill, strategy and luck. This will bring tons of fun and get the kids thinking in a different way.

Smooshy Mushy
There’s a big craze with blind bags and this holiday you’ll see a low of squishy toys, and I’m loving the Smooshy Mushy sets. The bento box is adorable and the Pets and Frozen Delights are filled with surprised that even I can’t wait to open and see. These are available at Walmart and selling out so keep your eyes open.

Laser X
Yep that’s right Laser Tag is back and this set is the holiday wish list. It’s a bit of childhood for me, but I know siblings will have fun sneaking around to tag each other and this is a great price point.

Nerf Nirto
This is another great way to blast off some foam cars. It’s designed so you can create a course for your car, and you can’t blast them off unless it’s on a flat surface and you’re pushing down. Playing with this I got excited and can already see my kids blasting off some races and fun. I’ll be picking up the pack of 2 because it’s always more fun to play together.

DropMix
I haven’t forgotten about the older kids and this year I think DropMix is going to be an awesome gift, especially for the music lover. From the creators of Rock Band they are using music in a way I’ve never seen. You create you own mix by laying down the different tracks (vocals, percussion, melody, etc) which are cards. You can either battle or just create an awesome beat. You’ll need a smart device to play, but this will have teens up and creating in a few way.

Twangled
Playing games together can be super fun and Twangled will have you laughing and moving in ways you didn’t think possible. I love how you grab the cord and twist and tangle and untangle your way through teamwork and fun.

Bonus: Ultimate Dinopedia
While this isn’t a toy I’m including it because I know I have a huge Dinosaur fan and a book like this would be so exciting. I love how colorful and easy to read this book is, with tons of info facts and pictures.
