Getting dressed up for holiday parties is always fun, but an ugly sweater party can take festive to the next level, add in a DIY Ugly Christmas Hat and you’re ready to deck the halls.
Ugly Christmas Hat
I got the idea to make an ugly Christmas hat because I wanted to take my holiday spirit to the next level. I love an ugly sweater, but I wanted something a little more personal. Plus when someone asks where I got my hat it’s fun to say I made it.
Ugly Christmas Hat Supplies
I wanted this to a be a quick and easy project so I went with what I had on hand for vinyl and just grabbed some red and green hats.

How to make an Ugly Christmas Hat
To make the hat it took little to no time as I didn’t need to cut a lot of things.
1. Make your design in Cricut Access. I love being able to just type in bows or ornaments and having a wide selection of options.
2. Pick your vinyl. I actually was able to use a lot of scraps that I tend to hold on to. I also like that it’s different kinds of vinyl mixed together.
3. Cut and weed. When cutting remember to Mirror-image and that you place the vinyl shiny side down on the mat.
4. Place your vinyl on the hat and use the EasyPress2 to iron on. It took me a total of 5 minutes to do this part for both hats. I love how quick the EP2 heats up and that I don’t have to guess what temp or how long.
I just love how these turned out and how much fun I had making them. It’s also great because anyone can wear one.
