It’s officially fall and we had the traditional apple picking trip this past weekend. We started this tradition 5 years ago and it’s become something we all look forward to each year.

Apple Picking 2016This year we headed back to Masker’s Farm in Warwick, NY. A bit of a drive, but totally worth it. The orchard is massive and you drive your cars right into it. Which I really like. They also have the policy of eat all the apples you want. I love this because we really never remember what kind we like until we taste them. It’s fun to drive around to the different areas and taste our options. I also loved seeing families set up for the day. They bring blankets, tents, chairs, picnics, family and friends to spend the day among the apple trees.

Apple Picking with Friends

We invited some friends as well to make our morning and experience even more fun. Picking McIntosh, Empire, Cortland and Granny Smiths we filled our bags with delicious apples and had tons of excitement with grabbing apples high in the trees.

For me it’s the memories we make while we do this. Eleanor running from tree to tree reading the signs (something she wouldn’t have been able to do last year). Camden getting pure excitement at picking the biggest apple. Mike still able to put both kids on his shoulder to grab that perfect one just out of reach.

Apple Picking 2016I love watching these moments, but am also happy that I document them through photos and with my blog.

Apple Picking Family 2016As we left Masker’s with our filled bag and of course, apple cider donuts, and apple cider we all had big smiles. It was a day filled of flannel, fall, friends, family and fun.

Now the big question is what will we make with all our apples? I know I’ve got some Red Hot Applesauce on the list, but what else?
